Privacy
Only Shores keeps as little as it can.
- No accounts, no email addresses, no names.
- Shore Lists: the site stores the list's shores, its optional name, and a scrambled form (SHA-256) of the list link and of the calendar feed link, never the links themselves. Lists not opened for 400 days are deleted. You can delete a list at any time from its page.
- This browser: when you open a Shore List, your browser keeps its link in its own local storage so shore pages can offer "Add to my Shore List". It never leaves your device except when you use the list. Deleting the list, or clearing this site's data in your browser, removes it.
- Searches are not saved.
- Limits against abuse count requests per address per hour or day; addresses are kept only as a salted hash and the counts are deleted after two days.
- Cookies: pages with a form set one security cookie (to block forged form posts). There are no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies, and no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers.
- Server logs: the host's web server keeps standard access logs (address, time, page) for a short time for security. Those logs include the full address of any page opened, including Shore List and feed links.
- NOAA: the server, not your browser, asks NOAA for predictions. NOAA never sees your address.
